Perfect for photojournalists, the SlingShot 100 AW uses a unique sling design to go from "carry mode" to "ready mode" in just seconds. Carried comfortably on the back, it easily rotates to the front so you can get to your camera quickly. The SlingShot 100 AW holds an SLR with mid-range zoom lens attached 1 - 2 extra lenses, cables and accessories and has a full access lid to make loading it a snap. This feature-rich bag also includes a built-in memory card pouch, micro fiber LCD cloth and two generous organizer pockets. It's certain to surprise even the most demanding photojournalists.

5 out of 5 stars you can fit pro-sized bodies (or standard dslrs with battery/grip attachments)   March 6, 2010
hellfire (seattle, wa)
i added 2 photos of the slingshot packing an EOS 1Ds (about the size of any of the 1Ds, or a 5D with optional grip, or any other pro nikon body). the lens on it has to be a reasonable size, my favorite 50mm f/1.4 works well. it's a tight fit but works well, and i have room for another zoom or smaller camera.

others have covered the other major features. what isn't evident is that you absolutely DO need to use the stabilizing strap if you bend over at all, as the pack's natural tendency is to slide under your left arm. a bit of surprise when bending over to pick up dog business.

the last thing of note is that there isn't a great place to pack a water bottle other than in the main compartment, and definitely not enough room to fit even the smallest camelbak/water bladder i own.

despite this, it's such a joy to carry around that i'm giving it 5 stars.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect for the Family Guy   March 4, 2010

As a father of three daughters of various ages involved in many activities, this bag has been a Godsend. With diaper bag, stroller, and other things that accompany me on every outing, this camera bag makes carrying around my DSLR a minor afterthought. because this is a shoulder bag/slim backpack centered on my back on the go, it is very stable. It also allows me to carry a should strap diaper bag and still have both hands free to push the stroller, get the baby out of the car seat, etc...

Once on location, it is literally seconds to get this camera out of the bag. I have gotten so proficient as to be able hold the baby in one hand, sling the pack around to the front, unzip partially and whip out my camera. The partitions and easy sling around the front access surely beats the taking off the backpack and digging through to find the camera. Everything is held in place and the bag is well padded to protect my equipment from the accidental bumps and drops.

While the bag is in the front position and the top portion is opened, it is relatively easy to change out lenses, with camera around my neck, pop the old lens off, put it in the middle compartment, then pop the new lens on, and place the caps on the old lens and put it in the proper compartment, zip up, and go.

In the bag I keep, my Canon T1i with kit lens attached, a 50mm prime, and a 55-250 telephoto lens, battery charger, lens wipes, extra cards, and there is still enough room to squeeze in my sony camcorder (which I no longer do, because of the T1i video capabilities).

I guess the most important feature about this bag is it no longer makes it a hassel to bring along a DSLR and lenses wherever I go.

5 out of 5 stars Great Backpack, what you see is what you get   February 27, 2010

I was wondering if my D90 with my 18-200mm lens mounted could fit, and it does perfectly! Just the right size for this camera. It has space for two more mid-small lenses and there's still room for more stuff in the upper compartment. Great deal for hobby photographers.

5 out of 5 stars Not your average bag   February 18, 2010

My husband and I purchased this bag because we loved the fact that it didn't look like your ordinary camera bag--less bulk, and easy to carry. The shoulder strap makes it very easy to swing the bag around and access the camera. Plus there is lots of extra storage without adding to the size of the bag.

5 out of 5 stars excellent find   February 10, 2010

Eventhough I don't have much equipment as someone new to the hobby, I find this is an excellent bag for taking gear on the go...it is my primary bag right now. Fits my Canon XSi with zoom attached (70-250) as well as the 18-55mm that came with the camera. With that, there is still room to add a flash and carry battery charger, filters, etc.

Fast and easy to access my camera, sturdy and many features. Lowepro has a number of these in different sizes. I would probably be inclined to only look at Lowepro products in the future, when I need to expand.
