lacking features September 1, 2010 Eric T. Chapman (Portland, Maine, USA) I bought this for my wife to house the Canon PowerShot G11 10MP Digital Camera with 5x Wide Angle Optical Stabilized Zoom and 2.8-inch articulating LCD that I was buying her at the same time. The camera fits in the pouch. The flap closes. If you dropped the camera you might get some marginal protection. Those are not sterling attributes but they are the best things I can say about this little pouch.
Now the negatives:
1. I come from the DSLR world so I bought my wife an extra memory card and battery. The product description says, "Quick access single flap design allows one-handed simple access to camera or small accessories." The emphasis should be on the "or." This is a single compartment item. There is no additional space in there beyond the camera itself. There is not so much as a little velcro pocket to put anything in. There are several ways that this pouch can be attached to other stuff, i.e. a belt, a backpack, a camera bag. I get the feeling this little thing is meant to be an add on to an existing transport system. I get the further feeling that the G11 happens to fit in it so they threw that on the name to sucker me in.
2. The product description also states, "Water-resistant outer fabric protects against moisture and abrasion." While it may be true that the fabric would resist those things the fact remains that the main closure flap on this thing just folds over. It leaves a 2" by 1/4" gap on either side. This proved more than enough to introduce generous amounts of sand blown in from a trip to the beach and if memory serves me right I think drops of rain are less than 2" long. User beware.
Good enough August 18, 2010 Tiago Maymone (Lisbon, Portugal) It's pretty much the mainstream kind of thing, not the edge of design, but given the price it's perfectly OK.
To small July 7, 2010 Carl-johan Henriksen (Denmark) Don't buy Lowenpro Canon G 10 bag. It's much to small. I think Lovenpro never have seen a Canon PowerShot G10
Great Case... But June 21, 2010 R. Sutton (Rio Vista, CA USA) I love this case. It's a perfect fit for my G-11 and does not try to shift the many operating buttons/dials when putting the camera away or removing it from the case.
However, I found that when the camera and case are worn on a belt, the "Clip-type' latch makes it impossible to remove the camera from the case with one hand. It takes both hands to release the latch. As a workaround I removed the latch and strap and sewed in a Velcro closure. This makes it easy to remove the camera and provides a secure closure as well.
The case is roomy enough to house the G-11 with an "Opteka Professional Wrist Grip Strap for Digital & Film SLR Cameras" ($9.95 on Amazon) attached to the camera.
(Wrist strap - http://www.amazon.com/Opteka-Professional-Wrist-Digital-Cameras/dp/B00166EUI0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1277159365&sr=8-1 )
I deducted 1 star because of the latch. Lowepro is 5 Stars in almost everything they make.
UPDATE JULY 2010: Used the case with the G-11 for a number of field trips now. No complaints at all. Still a great case and buy.
Barely usable. May 23, 2010 J. Oakley (Bellingham, WA USA) This is a functional pouch but the plastic locking tabs are hard to undo single-handed, so I leave them undone all the time. The camera is such a snug fit that it is unlikely that it will fall out. I would have liked a pouch to have space for the neck strap when I don't want to use it.
